Housed in a historic building, the Viniculture Museum details the history and practices of wine making in the Baden-Württemberg region. Originally brought by the Romans and cultivated during their occupation of Stuttgart, vines have been a feature of the area for two thousand years and a few vineyards are still visible from the heart of the city.

Exhibits include presses, barrels, goblets and glasses in a range of materials reflecting their age: clay, stoneware, glass and pewter. Local wines can be sampled in the museum's Weinstüble (tavern).

For the enthusiast, Stuttgart's annual 'Weindorf' (wine festival) features over 300 varieties all available for tasting. It takes place from the last Friday in August to the first Sunday in September on Kirchstraße and Marktplatz.
